Family Counselling in Windsor Essex

Mission

We specialize in supporting the social, emotional, and mental health of parents, children, teens, and young adults. Our mission is to empower every member of the family unit to thrive.

We are committed to utilizing the latest scientific knowledge from the Brain Story to inform our practice. By integrating neuroscience with compassionate counseling, we help families strengthen relationships, cultivate essential life skills, and alleviate household stress.

Through tailored interventions and evidence-based strategies, we foster a nurturing environment where each individual can flourish. Our goal is not only to resolve immediate concerns but to equip families with the tools they need for long-term resilience and well-being.

At Swabey Family Counselling, we believe that by investing in the health and harmony of families, we contribute to healthier communities and a brighter future for all.

Vision

We envision all families thriving in safe and secure relationships – because science tell us that safe relationships are the best predictor for children’s’ social, emotional, and mental well-being. We see a world where:

Parents feel empowered with knowledge of the relationship-mind-brain connection, filling their toolboxes with effective strategies to navigate challenges and cultivate deeper connections with their loved ones.

Children, teens, and young adults are actively building essential life skills and excelling not only within their homes but also in their schools and communities. They are equipped with the resilience and emotional intelligence necessary to navigate life’s complexities with confidence and grace.

Families are creating healthy habits that foster resilience and reduce household stress. By implementing evidence-based practices and fostering open communication, families experience more calm, confidence, and connection in their daily lives.

We are dedicated to helping families realize this vision by providing compassionate support, empowering education, and practical tools for growth. Together, we can create a world where every family thrives.

Core Values

Parent-Inclusive:  Parents matter and are ESSENTIAL for creating positive change for the whole family unit.  We help parents build their skills alongside their children.  Our parent-inclusive approach will help strengthen family relationships, improve communication, and equip parents with effective strategies.

Empower: Empowering parents, children, and teens with knowledge and tools to enhance their emotional intelligence, improve communication, and strengthen family bonds. Through personalized guidance, we help families build resilience and face life’s challenges with confidence.

Collaborate: We believe in the power of collaboration between counsellors, clients, and their support networks. By working together, we facilitate holistic healing, promoting understanding and unity within families.

Parent-Inclusive Family Counselling in Windsor Essex

We provide comprehensive parent-inclusive family counselling in Windsor Essex that is focused on the needs of children, teens, and parents.  Our services include:

Child Counselling

Supporting children ages 6 to 12 years of age (see Parent Counselling for children 5 years and under) who experience social, emotional, or behavioural challenges including ADHD, anxiety, school refusal, aggression, defiance, negative self-talk, and more. With parents as our partners in care, we help kids better understand their internal world of emotions, thoughts, body sensations, and actions, helping them build foundational emotional intelligence and regulation skills.

Teen Counselling

Helping teens, ages 13 to 17 years, navigate the ups and downs of adolescence. Whether they face challenges with identity formation, anxiety, depression, self-harm, peer relationships, or school performance, we support teens by building insight and awareness into themselves and the teenage brain, so they can face life’s challenges with adaptability, flexibility, and resilience.

Counselling for Young Adults

Providing support and guidance to young adults, ages 18 to 25 years, as they navigate the transition into adulthood, establish independence, and form meaningful relationships.

Parent Counselling

Parent counselling supports expecting, new, and seasoned parents through the parenting journey.  We help expecting and new parents prepare for the impacts of a new baby on relationship dynamics, understand the importance of serve and return relationships, and learn effective parenting strategies for children under 5 years of age.  Our team of therapists support all parents in building safe and secure relationships within the family unit and in reducing household stress and tension.  We want parents feeling confident, competent, and connected.

Family Counselling

Turning chaos into calm by helping families of all shapes and sizes, form healthier relationships by learning and practicing skills such as active listening, conflict communication, emotion regulation, and collaborative problem solving.

Parent Education Workshops

We host workshops designed to provide parents with valuable insights into child and teen development, effective parenting techniques, and strategies for promoting positive mental health.

Supportive Resources

We provide parents with access to educational materials, online resources, and community referrals to best support their child’s emotional well-being

Together, We Grow Stronger

At Swabey Family Counseling, we believe that every family has the potential to thrive. By integrating the principles of brain science into our counselling approach, we guide parents, children, and teens toward deeper self-awareness, emotional regulation, and meaningful connections. Together, we embark on a journey of healing, resilience, and growth, fostering enduring bonds that withstand life’s challenges.
